Scores & TABs
Not a single concert, workshop or music fair passes without me being asked several times about my guitar arrangements of pop tunes; not a single day goes by without an internet query.
Especially popular with fans of my work are songs like Right Here Waiting For You, Kiss From a Rose, One of Us and Time After Time—all pieces that I myself am especially fond of and that I have recorded on CDs and videos and played at my concerts. Until now, however, anyone looking for sheet music or tablatures came up empty-handed. So I published Personal Favorites, which comprises the scores of my favorite arrangements. The technical level of the pieces ranges from easy (Mad World) to medium (Hit the Road Jack) and just a little bit more diffi cult in the case of Kiss From a Rose …
The book has been expanded with some pieces from my own pen. I chose works that are often played, like Secret Story. At this point I would like to thank my publisher Gerd Kratzat, who spared neither expense nor eff ort to complete this project.
Technical suggestions: What is important with these pieces, and generally for all my compositions, is to outline the melody clearly. If several notes of the melody are played on a single string, I alternate the plucking in the right hand between i (index finger) and m (middle finger). In slow and particularly expressive ballads, I like to use apoyando (rest stroke: after the finger plays the note, the finger comes to rest on the next lower string). This generates louder, fuller and softer tones. I combine this technique with classic plucking technique, whereby the thumb covers the bass strings (E, A, D), the index/i plays notes on the G string, the middle finger/m on the B string and the ring finger/a on the high E string. These two strokes are to be used unless otherwise indicated. The pieces will be a lot easier to learn if you watch my videos on YouTube: www.youtube.com/boegershausen
When I play these pieces, I always feel my heart opening up. I wish you just as much joy when playing and learning.
